Hello Super Squirts,

I hope you have all had a relaxing weekend and are ready for another week of learning.

In case any of you are interested, next weekend is the RSPB’s Great Garden Birdwatch and you don’t need a garden to take part. It’s on Friday, Saturday and Sunday and you choose a 1 hour time slot suitable to you. During that time you count the number and type of birds that you see and then send the information to the RSPB.

More details can be found at: https://www.rspb.org.uk

Well Done’s for Bug Club and EdCity.

Learning Activities for This Week.

Below are the lessons/activities for this week. Although we are not in school we must continue to work as near to normal as possible.

Please make sure you work through the lessons and activities below so when we are together again we are all in the same place in our learning.

Bug Club and Power Maths can be accessed using your Active Learn logins. Activities on Education City are updated weekly which you can also access using the logins for that site.

As always, I can be contacted via the school office or on my email – . Don’t hesitate to email and let me know if you need anything to support your learning. I look forward to seeing your completed work.

When you send work please add any comments you may have about how your child/ren managed the activities. Your comments are helpful regarding what activities to use in future planning. Thank you!

This is a suggested timetable for your day:

8.45 – 9.00 – spelling/times table practise

9.00 – 10.00 – Maths

10.00 – 10.15 – Have a break and a well-earned snack!

 10.15 – 10.35 – Phonics

10.35 – 11.30 – English

11.30 – 12.00 – Reading and  handwriting practise

Each day work on one of our other subjects or/and spend some time on EdCity.

Remember – EdCity is NOT instead of the other lessons; it is just one part of the curriculum as a whole.

There is also a Homework Grid you can chose activities from.

Today you are going to plan your own story using what you have learnt about about the contents and structure of a Traditional Tale/Fairy Story.

Draw a storyboard to show your own made up version of a Traditional Tale or Fairy Story.

Remember this is a plan/boxing up activity – not an art lesson. You don’t need to colour it in and characters can be drawn as matchstick people and animals. Tomorrow you will write your story.

Carry on with Bug Club from wherever you have got to.

Ask your adult to test you on the spellings you have been learning this week.

Hot Task:

Very few children sent me their COLD TASK.  I will expect the HOT TASK from ALL of you.

Write your own Traditional Tale or Fairy Story. Remember to write in proper sentences and use lots of interesting vocabulary to make the story exciting to read.

This piece of work is really important because from it I will be able to see how much progress/development each one of you has made with your written English work so far this term.

Carry on with Bug Club from wherever you have got to.

Foundation Subjects

Look at the following BBC Bitesize clip:

Discuss with your adult what you thought about the invention.

Who was Maria Beasley? What is she famous for? What links her to the inventor in the BBC clip? Write a paragraph about her.

If you can’t do the PE activities because of a lack of space etc at least go out for a walk/run or a bike ride with your adult.

Talk with your adult about how you think the universe was made. Write a few sentences to explain your thoughts. You can add illustrations if you wish.

Homework Grid:

Don’t forget there are other activities for you to do on the class homework grid.

Remember, your learning is your responsibility – work hard and don’t give up!

“I can and I will!” said the Little Red Train as it puffed up the hill.

Enjoy your week and remember to try your best.
