Hello Sheringham, 22nd June 2020
Hello Sheringham class,
I hope you have had a wonderful weekend. What a great week ahead of us; not only is the weather going to be glorious, but we have planned some lovely activities for you to have a go at. You can see what I mean by looking at your home learning grid, but let me go through some of the plans now for you:
English – this week we are planning and writing our hot task. I can’t wait to read your stories as I know what great imaginations some of you have. The children who are in school have been giving me ideas this week. One child decided her main character, an orphan, would save a unicorn. Her wish was to live with a family in a big house. Remember that in writing a great story, I will want to see good handwriting, punctuation, including speech punctuation, adverbs and adjectives. Here is a little reminder:
Maths – we will be continuing with our Power Maths. You can find the textbooks here: Year 3: https://preview.pearsonactivelearn.com/PowerMathsYear3
Topic – How you have loved learning about the Romans! In addition to what photos on the class blog from Friday, Nichita sent me a model and picture he created on the Colosseum. What talent you have shown.
The good news is that we are continuing with our work on the Colosseum and looking at gladiators. As you are so inspired, I have found a number of resources that I think you will find interesting. Perhaps after all this work we will have to change our class name to the Gladiators!

Science – this week we are looking at water and will be introducing some new vocab such as evaporation and condensation. These clips may help you with getting started: https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zkgg87h/articles/zydxmnb
To end the week, you have been asked to bake a cake. What a fantastic end to a great week! Please send me your photos!
As always, I have put some Maths and English activities on Education City. I shall be tracking to see who has been on; let’s see if we can get even more children than last week!
I look forward to hearing from you,
